Andre Ayew on target for Swansea City in vital win against Sheffield Wednesday

Ghana international Andre Dede Ayew was on target this afternoon for his 14th goal of the season as he helped Swansea City to beat Sheffield Wednesday in the English Championship.

The Black Stars captain has been the star man for the Swans since the 2019/2020 season started and earned another starting role today when his side played as a host to their matchday opponent at the Liberty Stadium.

Despite a good display from both teams in the first half, neither could get on the scoresheet and had to settle for a draw at the break.

An improved cutting edge performance from Swansea City in the early parts of the second half saw the side breaking the deadlock when teen striker Rhian Brewster found the back of the net with an assist from Connor Roberts.

A little after 10 minutes later, Ghana’s Andre Ayew stepped up for a penalty kick and made no mistake as he buried his effort in the back of the net.

That equalizer summed up Swansea’s dominance over Sheffield Wednesday today even though Atdhe Nuhiu netted a consolation in added time. Eventually, the home team cruised to a 2-1 win as they bagged all the 3 points.

This is Ayew’s 38th appearance for his team in the English Championship this season where he has provided 6 assists on top of his 14 goals.
