Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew expressed his gratitude towards Le Havre Athletic Club for their patient approach as he made his comeback after a prolonged absence.

Ayew commended the club's support and credited them for allowing him the time to regain form. The 33-year-old made these remarks after scoring a brace in Le Havre's 3-3 draw against Lorient in the French Ligue 1.

The veteran forward, who scored a header and a bicycle kick late in the game, emphasized his appreciation for the club's understanding during his recovery period as a free agent.

Reflecting on his journey back to peak performance, Ayew acknowledged the challenges he faced, including a small injury and the disruptions caused by the AFCON.

He expressed his thanks to the team for affording him the necessary playing time before the tournament, enabling him to contribute significantly upon his return.

“I played a few matches and then there was the AFCON and I also had a small injury that affected how I wanted to get along. I thank the team for taking their time with me and giving me a run of matches before the AFCON," he said.

“I came back on Saturday and today, I scored these goals that gave us a point," he added.

Le Havre currently holds the 11th position in the 18-team league standings.
