SPAL captain Mirco Antenucci praised Fiorentina’s quality as his team lost to the Viola 3-0 at the Artemio Franchi on Saturday evening.
He underlined the hosts possession, but also exalted the spirit of the SPAL fans, who were always supporting the players despite the result.
“The fans were amazing, they always are and always have been,” Antenucci told reporters after the game.
“It’s normal for us to have such amazing support. It is normal abroad, and having played abroad I know what it means. At the [Stadio] Paolo Mazza the fans are always supporting us.”
The SPAL striker also praised the opponents, who were impeccable: “We didn’t do well in possession, but it was also down to Fiorentina’s quality. We can’t be expect to win everywhere, we can’t always do as well as against Atalanta. We played against a really well organised and good team, and we struggled.”
