The Ghana Football Association, through its Director of Communications, Henry Asante Twum, has stressed that the selection of coaches for the national teams is entirely based on their track record.

The recent appointments made by the association encompass both new and existing male and female national teams, with the inclusion of former Ghana international, Godwin Attram.

In an interview with CitiSports, Henry Asante Twum highlighted the meticulous process of evaluating potential coaches.

We look into what they have contributed to the sports and what they have decided to do after their careers. You realise that some of them veer into other spheres of the industry.”

"There have been exceptions with the likes of Laryea Kingston, John Pantsil, Don Bortey, Sammy Adjei, Sani Mohammed and Otto Addo for instance all taking up coaching. Asamoah Gyan has also finished his license B course so I’m sure he’s in line for these kinds of opportunities in future.”

“Whenever there is a vacuum for us to employ, the executive council go into the CVs, what they have achieved individually, they look at what they have contributed to the sports secondly and decide on where they can best fit.”
