Argentina Coach Edgardo Bauza Reveals Why 'Angry' Lionel Messi Did Not Celebrate

The mood at Barcelona right now is pretty, frosty, to say the least. Criticism of players and manager after a shock 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain has come thick and fast with talisman, Lionel Messi, right at the centre of it.

The Argentine's lacklustre performance against the Parisiens was perhaps the worst of his illustrious career, but he managed to bounce back on Sunday evening.

The mercurial forward scored a brace in Barca's 2-1 win over La Liga minnows Leganes with a 90th-minute penalty sealing the three points.

However, Messi did not celebrate his perfectly placed spot kick, in fact, he looked pretty angry. The jeering from the crowd throughout the match certainly did not help and Argentina national coach Edgardo Bauza has had his say on his player's reaction.

"I think he reacted to the criticism he may have received after PSG," he told radio show Joga Bonito, as per FourFourTwo.

"I noticed he was very angry when he scored the goals."

Messi's future at the club has come under question several times in recent months, however, it is thought that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner will sign a new contract at the Nou Camp.

Nevertheless, rumours about him joining Manchester City, where former coach Pep Guardiola is now managing, keep cropping up.

In Messi's record-breaking career at the Catalan club, this current period under Luis Enrique, who won the treble in his debut season, is without a doubt the most challenging.

The club are way too reliant on their superstar and if the rest don't start pulling their weight, particularly Brazilian star Neymar, Messi may re-evaluate his options.
