Arnautovic ready for next step

Published on: 14 November 2018

Marko Arnautovic's agent has indicated that the Austria international could leave West Ham United in January.

The 29-year-old has scored 16 goals in 41 Premier League appearances for the Hammers since joining the club from Stoke City in the summer of 2017.

He has found the net five times in the top-flight already this season, including one against Burnley earlier this month.

However, his agent and brother Danijel believes Arnautovic can play for a club that is playing in Europe on a regular basis.

He has not been involved in Europe with the Hammers or Stoke having featured in both the Champions League and the UEFA Cup with Twente and Werder Bremen.

Arnautovic told the Austrian newspaper Kurier: "I'm 29, so that's the best age. It's clear that I want to compete with the best players. But in this affair I totally trust my brother."

Danijel said: "[An exit] is possible. It was already very, very close last summer. He's already playing in the Premier League and that's where the best players are. But for a player like Marko this cannot be the end.

"He's a big part of West Ham's team but I think it's possible to tease out more of him. For that to happen, he has to play for a top team.

"Marko is ready for the next step. A player like him should not play against relegation. He should play for the international spots.

"Marko is really enjoying playing for West Ham. He loves that club and the fans. But there is still that feeling, that this cannot be the end. And everybody should understand that."

Austria are 21/20 to win their next match against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Thursday while West Ham can be backed at 12/1 to beat Manchester City on 24th November.
