Arsenal are considering jumping into the battle for Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.
The Times says Arsenal are weighing up whether to rival Liverpool and Manchester City for Van Dijk in January.
The highly-rated Dutchman almost moved to Anfield in the summer, only for the move to collapse when Saints reported the Reds for an alleged illegal approach.
City are known admirers of Van Dijk who is now back playing regularly for Mauricio Pellegrino following the uncertainty over his future at the start of the season.
Van Dijk would cost around £70 million which would be a world-record fee for a defender.
