Arsenal extend unbeaten run

Arsenal continued their impressive recent run, making it 17 games unbeaten in all competitions with victory at Bournemouth.

The Gunners won 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium to move to within a point of the top four.

They were given a helping hand with a spectacular own goal from Jefferson Lerma which gave them the lead.

At half-time we spoke and knew that we had to come back with intensity and do better.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

That came after half an hour, the midfielder trying to intercept Sead Kolasinac's cross but only managing to divert it powerfully into his own net, giving Asmir Begovioc no chance in the Cherries goal.

The home side were level just before the break, Joshua King getting on the end of a good move to mark his return to the side after injury.

The Gunners though recovered in the second half and scored what turned out to be the winner, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang getting on the end of another Kolasinac cross.

Bournemouth had their chances and were unlucky not to have taken the lead early in the game, David Brooks having a goal disallowed for offside.

However, it was the visitors who claimed all three points to move to within a point of Chelsea who sit fourth in the table.

Aubameyang said it was a hard-fought win, telling Sky Sports: "Of course we knew that it would be a tough game and it was, but it's good to win and go back home with the points.

"I think the goal before half-time was bad for us. At half-time we spoke and knew that we had to come back with intensity and do better.

"We are following the process, that's what it is and we are continuing this way."

The Gunners are next in action in midweek, taking on Vorskla Poltava in the Europa League and they are 15/2 to win the trophy at the end of the season.

They are back in the Premier League next Sunday with a North London derby at home to Tottenham. They are 5/4 for the win with Spurs 9/4 and the draw 9/4.

Aubameyang is 4/1 to score the first goal.
