The internet needs no second invitation to laugh at Arsenal fans.

Whether it's taking a side swipe at the lack of atmosphere at the Emirates Stadium, looking on as Gunners fans hijack yet another Twitter poll or chuckling along as they argue among themselves following the implosion of yet another title bid, there's no shortage of material.

However, it seems that somebody behind the scenes at the Emirates Stadium has decided that opposition fans needed yet another reason to mock the Gunners.

Before the Gunners earned a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Eddie Howe's valiant Bournemouth side on Sunday, the club revealed a new mascot to help cheer the club on to victory. Step forward, Captain Arsenal.

It looks more like a forfeit put together by a group of matesthan an innovation designed by one of the Premier League's elite clubs.

It remains to be seen how long Captain Arsenal lasts at the Emirates, given the widespread ridicule that has greeted his unveiling, but Gunners fans will hope the club's hierarchy will bin the madcap mascot sooner rather than later.
