Arsenal gaffer Wenger gives his opinion on Wilshere ice-skating photos

Published on: 07 December 2017

To say that Jack Wilshere has an eventful injury history with Arsenal would be an understatement. The English midfielder, who always appears on the verge of establishing himself as a top player in the team, cannot seem to catch a break when it comes to his fitness.

It is with that backdrop that pictures of Jack Wilshere ice staking caused some disconcertion among Arsenal fans. But it appears his manager still has faith in the Englishman.

Wenger stated that Wilshere will start against BATE Borisov, and he did not seem too bothered with the ice skating pictures.

"It's not ideal [ice skating] - for your balance it's not bad! But for a footballer I don't think it's great. It depends as well on what you do," he said.

Wenger added more context to his comments, stating that Wilshere was not ice skating in a potentially dangerous manner.

"I didn't know that. I just heard that. You can do ice skating by bringing your child on and just making sure nothing happens to him, and [you can do] ice skating violently, I don't think he did that!"
