La Liga giants Real Madrid are ready to offload French striker Karim Benzema in the summer, according toThe Sun.

The 29-year-old - who has been at the club since 2009, having joined from Lyon - has been a long-time target for Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, with the London side being linked every summer for some time now.

According to The Sun's report, Madrid are finally willing to sell, and have put a price of £50m on the player, who has helped them win the Champions League on two occasions, as well as one La Liga title.

The Frenchman has been a recent subject of abuse from the club's fans, having failed to find the back of the net in his last five outings. He is now said to be considering a move elsewhere, with the Premier League now in his sights.

While this may be good news for Arsenal, they may face some competition in the form of Premier League leaders Chelsea, who soundly beat them at Stamford Bridge on Saturday with a 3-1 result.

The Blues are thought to be uncertain over the future of star striker Diego Costa, and could be in the hunt for a suitable replacement up front.

Costa has been linked with a move to China, and former club Atletico Madrid may come calling as well. The Spain international did admitthat he wanted to return to the Rojiblancos last summer, but claims to be happy at Chelsea and has shown that by scoring 15 goals so far this term.
