Arsenal Identify Injury-Prone Germany International as Potential Replacement for Wantaway Pair

Arsenal are said to have made progress in identifying a potential replacement for either Mesut Ozil or Alexis Sanchez - with the winds appearing to blow in the direction of one of the two departing the Emirates in the not-too distant future.

Sanchez's future in particular looks to be in doubt, with the Chilean refusing to commit his future to the club as he holds out for a heftier pay packet - the likes of which are reportedly on offer in the Chinese Super League.

TheTelegraphreport that Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus is a name on Arsene Wenger's target list ahead of the summer, by which time both Ozil and Sanchez will be left with just 12 months on their respective contracts, if they do not reach an agreement with the club.

Should a time in the near future come where Sanchez is heading towards the door - as looks increasingly to be the case -Wenger appears ready to chase Reus, currently rated at around £30m despite his patchy injury history.

Alengthy injury layoff forced the 27-year-old to miss Germany's Euro 2016 campaign, having earlier cruelly missed the triumphant 2014 World Cup with an ankle problem, but the German is not considered to have any chronic long-term issues in the same way as, for example, Vincent Kompany.

Wenger has been said in the past to bea 'huge fan' of Reus, while efforts have allegedly been made to sign him in the past. The last time the player's future came to a head, he took the opportunity to agree a new contract with Dortmund instead of pursuing a move. That deal runs to 2019.
