Arsenal interested in signing Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey from Brighton in January

Arsenal have reportedly expressed interest in signing Ghana right-back Tariq Lamptey from Brighton and Hove Albion in upcoming winter transfer window.

The 22-year-old is on the radar of the Premier League leaders and is seen as someone to provide competition to Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Mikel Arteta, this season has deployed England international Ben White, former teammate of Lamptey as a make shift right-back.

Tottenham are also believed to be interested in acquiring his services in January.

Lamptey put up a Man of the Match performance and scored for Brighton in their 3-1 win over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

He has made 12 appearances and scored one goal in all competitions for Brighton so far this season.

Lamptey has been named in Ghana's 55-man provisional squad for the World Cup and is expected to be named in the final squad which will be announced on Monday, November 14, 2022.

Black Stars have been drawn in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.

Ghana will take on Portugal in their first game on November 24 before playing South Korea and Uruguay on November 28 and December 2 respectively.
