Arsenal Keeper Petr Cech Believes Gunners Are 'in Good Position' to Win Title This Year

Published on: 23 October 2016

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech believes his side are in a 'good position' to claim the Premier League trophy this season.

The Gunners are joint-top of the table after ninegames, and having not lost since the opening day of the season Cech feels confident that his side can finally go the distance after 13 trophy-less seasons.

His comments reiterate those of his manager Arsene Wenger, who believes that it is Arsenal's'best chance in 5-6 years'of winning the title.

Wenger's side missed the opportunity to go top on Saturday after failing to capitalise on Tottenham's 0-0 draw with Bournemouth.

Cech saved Arsenal's blushes with a string of heroic saves in the goalless draw with Middlesbrough on Saturday, but he still feels disappointed not to build a gap over the Gunners' north-London rivals.

"We are disappointed more that Tottenham dropped points and we wanted to open the gap even more, and there are big games tomorrow as well," Cech said, as quoted in theExpress.

"Some teams are going to drop points, so we wanted to take advantage of that but it wasn't to be.

But there is a long way to go, I think that we are in a good position and we are in a good shape as well."

Arsenal will face Tottenham for the first time this season in a fortnight's time, but before then the Gunners must travel to the struggling Sunderland, Spurs meanwhile must entertain title-holders Leicester City, who have looked a shadow of their former-selves this season.
