Arsenal youngsterGedion Zelalem is on the verge of a move to Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund, according toESPN.

Dortmund have reportedly been lining up a move for the 19-year-old midfielder since the end of December, and are looking to tie up a deal in this month's transfer window.

Zelalem, who is out of contact in the summer, has been unable to establish himself in Arsenal's first team since returning from a loan spell with Rangers last season.

He has made just one substitute appearance so farthis season, which camein the EFL Cup against Nottingham Forest.

The teenager was born in Berlin, and played for Hertha Berlin's youth team before moving to the United States in 2006.

Zelalem has since switched his international allegiances to the United States, appearing for the Under 23s.

But he is believed to be keen for a return to Germany, in particular Dortmund, the team his father supports. It would also be a potential opportunity to join up with international teammateChristian Pulisic at BVB.

Dortmund have reportedly offered Zelalem the"promise of more first-team opportunities" should he make the move to the Bundesliga.

BVB are hoping to replicate the success of Serge Gnabry's move from Arsenal to Werder Bremen, which happened under similar circumstances.
