Arsenal's Mesut Ozil Names Former Teammate as the Best Defender in the World

Arsenal attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil has named Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos as the best defender in the world.


Ozil and Ramos played together for the La Liga outfit between 2010 and 2013 before Ozil left for north London outfit Arsenal, and speaking to the club's website as quoted by theLondon Evening Standard, the Germany international claimed the Spaniard to be the world's finest defender.

"I had a good time, successful as well, good friendships as well with a few players," Ozil stated.


"My best friend Sergio Ramos - I am still in contact with him. For me, maybe the best defender in the world.


"Good relationship, good guy, good personality, and a good singer - he has a nice voice, really!"


Ozil also spoke about his time playing with Real starCristiano Ronaldo, claiming he became a better player during their time togetherand joking Ronaldo has a slight edge on his Gunners teammate Santi Cazorla, as the Portuguese can use both feet.

"He is amazing with both feet - not just right, like Santi," Ozil continued.


"I really enjoyed playing with him because he made me better on the pitch, he's a good guy and a good friend.


"Of course I gave a lot of my assists to him, and he knows that! But I really enjoyed playing with him because he doesn't need a lot of chances - if I give him two chances, he scores two.


"He's amazing and one of the greatest footballers in history."
