Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Mathieu Debuchy and Olivier Giroud will miss Wednesday's EFL Cup clash with Southampton, but Lucas Perez is set to return.

The French duo both picked up injuries in the 3-1 win over Bournemouth on Sunday. Debuchy was making his first start of the year for Arsenal, but was forced to hobble off after he suffered a hamstring injury just 15 minutes into the game.

Wenger toldArsenal'swebsite,Mathieu has a scan today [Tuesday] but we don't have the results yet."

Olivier Giroud has also been ruled out of contention after he picked up a slight groin problem in the closing stages of Sunday's game.

Debuchy and Giroud are set to join Hector Bellerin, Santi Cazorla, Danny Welbeck and Per Mertesacker on the injury list.

However, Arsene Wenger has confirmed that striker Lucas Perez is back in the squad after he injured his ankle while playing for the club in the 2-0 EFL Cup win over Reading in the last round.

Wenger said,Lucas is in the squad and will will have a mixture of youth and experience, but still 90 per cent of the first-team squad.

Arsenal head into the clash having not lost in any competition since they were beaten by Liverpool on the opening day of the season at the Emirates.

Following the EFL Cup clash, Arsenal then turn their attention back to the Premier League with a trip to the London Stadium on Saturday.
