Former Black Stars player Sam Johnson has waded into the debate as to who is Ghana’s all-time best player, by simply picking current captain of the national team as the best ever.

The 44 year old indicated in terms of achievement, Asamoah Gyan is second to none, therefore there should be no argument as to who is the country’s all-time best.

Gyan is Ghana’s all-time leading goal scorer with 51 goals from 105 appearances and the 31 year old is Africa’s leading scorer at the FIFA world cup.

“Asamoah Gyan is the best Ghanaian player ever, he has done everything nobody else has done,” he told Happy FM.

“How can you choose anybody else? How are you even going to pick someone else? He has done everything so he is the best player Ghana has ever had,” he added.

Asamoah Gyan joined Turkish side Kayserispor in the summer, a club Sam Johnson once played for, after spell in Asia.

The former Sunderland striker was also recently awarded a doctorate degree by the Alfred Nobel University from Ukraine.
