Former captain Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan has named Claud Le Roy as his favourite coach of the senior national team.
Throughout his nearly two-decade tenure with the Black Stars, Gyan collaborated with numerous coaches, both local and foreign.
However, the 38-year-old disclosed a particularly positive rapport with French tactician Claude Le Roy, who helmed the Ghanaian squad from 2006 to 2008.
Reflecting on his experience, Gyan expressed a deep sense of comfort and confidence under Le Roy's guidance.
"Among the various coaches I've worked with, I felt most at ease with Claude Le Roy. He was exceptionally open to every player, fostering an environment of confidence," Gyan revealed during an interview with Angel TV.
Gyan praised Le Roy's coaching style, emphasizing the coach's ability to instil unwavering belief in his players.
"Le Roy exudes confidence in you. He empowers you to play your game, guiding with tactics while respecting individual player preferences," Gyan added.
Despite his admiration for Le Roy, Gyan acknowledged his personal struggles during the 2008 African Cup of Nations (CAN 2008), where he felt unable to fully repay the coach's trust due to health concerns.
"While I began my journey with him in 2007 on a positive note, during the critical period of CAN 2008, I wasn't at my best. I took risks to play through injuries, even ending up in the hospital," Gyan disclosed, reflecting on the challenges he faced during the tournament.
