Abdul Fatawu Safiu has officially signed a contract with Kotoko, committing to the club until January 2026.

The renowned player, who was named the best player and top scorer of the NC’S special competition in 2019, is making a return to the team after stints with Trelleborgs FF and FC Trollhättan in Sweden.

Having initially featured for Kotoko during the 2018-2019 season, Safiu made a significant impact, scoring 13 goals in sixteen appearances, including notable performances in the CAF Confederation Cup.

His return aligns with Coach Prosper Narteh’s goal of guiding the team back to the CAF Champions League, as noted in the Porcupine Warriors’ statement.

Expressing his enthusiasm about rejoining Kotoko, Safiu stated, “I am very excited about this opportunity. Everyone knows Kotoko is the club that I support, and as a youngster, it was my dream to play for Kotoko.

“To get that opportunity twice makes me feel lucky and ready to do everything to help the team,” as reported on the club’s website.

Abdul Fatawu Safiu’s return to the club will be a real boost for Asante Kotoko are they are making a strong case for the Ghana Premier League title after a disappointing start.
