Asante Kotoko chief offers support to under-fire coach Seydou Zerbo

The Communications Manager of Asante Kotoko, David Obeng Nyarko, has come to the defense of their head coach, Seydou Zerbo.

The Burkinabe gaffer has come under intense pressure following the club's inconsistent performance in the ongoing 2022/23 Ghana Premier League campaign.

Kotoko on Sunday suffered elimination from the MTN FA Cup after a 1-0 defeat against Aduana Stars.

The Reds sit 3rd on the league log with 28 points.

However, Obeng Nyarko believes the team has suffered bad officiating hence the reason for their struggle in the ongoing season.

“We have several issues with officiating. As we talk, some referees have been banned because of some decisions they have taken against Asante Kotaku,” he told Oyerepa FM.

“If you look at the points difference between us and the top team, it is seven points against our team. We conceded a clear offside goal at RTU. At half-time, a lot of things went behind the scenes.

“These are some of the things the coach has suffered in the Ghana Premier league.

“Against Dreams FC, a player was fouled inside the box and the referee decided not to award a penalty. Nobody has the confidence to even go into the box again. A wrong penalty was given against us at Karela," he added.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko will hope to return to winning ways when they host Bechem United in the matchday 19 games later today with kick off at 15;00GMT.
