Asante Kotoko head coach Maxwell Konadu says playing away from home is affecting his side's performances as they were held to a 1-1 stalemate with Techiman Eleven Wonders on match day one of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

The Reds have adopted Accra Sports Stadium as it new home following the renovation works at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

After a barren first-half, Kwame Opoku broke the deadlock for the Porcupine Warriors with a shot into the bottom left corner of the net in the 54th minute, having picked up a loose ball.

Fourteen minutes to full-time, substitute Prince Opoku fetched the equaliser for visiting Wonders with a cool finish at the Accra Sports stadium.

"This playing from home started from last season and it hasn’t been helping us," coach Maxwell Konadu said after the game.

"It's always better to be in front of your home fans, playing in Kumasi means a lot to the team.

He added, "This is the first league match. Yes, we wanted to secure the three points but unfortunately it couldn’t happen. But we’ll still work hard. Its just the first match."

"The team is still gelling together and I believe that as time goes on, the team will become better than we did today."

Asante Kotoko will take on Berekum Chelsea in their next league encounter on Sunday.
