Asante Kotoko coach Seydou Zerbo departs Ghana to mourn the death of son

Seydou Zerbo, the coach of Asante Kotoko, has left Ghana to grieve the death of his son.

Following the death of his son, Zerbo Faical Mamadou, on Tuesday evening in Burkina Faso, the management of the reigning Ghana Premier League winners has given Coach Seydou Zerbo a two-week leave of absence.

The Head Coach will depart from Kotoka International Airport today for Burkina Faso.

Mamadou, 10, died as a result of complications following heart surgery.

Coach Seydou Zerbo will miss Asante Kotoko's upcoming away game against Samatex FC.

In the absence of head coach Zerbo, assistant coach Orlando Wellington will take over.

The Porcupine Warriors were beaten 1-0 in their last Ghana Premier League game against Accra Hearts of Oak. The game also doubled as the President's Cup. The Phobians grabbed the Cup for the second time at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Asante Kotoko is fifth on the league table with 31 points after 20 games.
