Asante Kotoko defender Christopher Nettey confirms exit from club

Asante Kotoko right-back Christopher Nettey has confirmed that he's leaving the club following the expiration of his contract.

The 24 year old joined the Porcupine Warriors from from Attram de Visser Academy in 2019, and became a key cog of the team.

Nettey played a key role in helping the Reds clinch their 24th Premier League title last season, featuring in almost all of the games.

"I thank you @AsanteKotoko_SC family so much for giving me the opportunity to serve you," Nettey posted on his twitter page.

"I will forever be grateful and cherish every moment I worked here. I wish you success and the best of luck in your future endeavors."

In November 2020, after Harrison Afful withdrew due to injuries, he received his first call-up to the Black Stars for a double-header 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan.

He made his debut against Sudan in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers Group C match at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium, starting in the right-back position as Ghana won 2-0.

Nettey is without a club now, however he is expected to join a Premier League soon with Hearts of Oak interested in acquiring his services.

He has previously featured for Accra Great Olympics on loan.
