Asante Kotoko has expressed a keen interest in AshantiGold's star Shafiwu Mumuni ahead of the commencement of the Special Competition in February.

The Chief Executive Officer of the club, Frederick Acheampong has revealed to Kessben FM in Kumasi that his side has received a letter from Kotoko in request of Shafiwu Mumuni.

"In fact, it's actually true Kotoko have written to us in a quest for Shafiwu Mumuni and we have replied to the club upon receiving the letter because one has to write back to let them know we've received the letter".

"We want money so if they bring it we will take it, we do business," he said.

The request was made by coach Charles Kwablan Akunnor who wants to augment his striking force and believes Shafiwu is a proven goalscorer.

Frederick Acheampong added that Shafiwu Mumuni has shown readiness and willingness to move to the Premier league record holders but stated that no bid has been tabled.

"I must put on record that the player has shown readiness to feature for Kotoko. He was concerned on Kotoko's qualification to the next stage of the Caf Confederation Cup to show more commitment. Meanwhile, there has not been any offer for Richard Djodi from Kotoko as well".

Shafiwu Mumuni netted nine times in 28 games in the 2016/17 season and five goals in 12 appearances in 2018.
