In a blow to Asante Kotoko, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has levied a hefty fine of GH₵80,000 against the club for wreaking havoc on the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex during their Premier League clash with Nations FC on Matchday 6.

Asante Kotoko fans went on a rampage and destroyed seats at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.

They did this after a late penalty was awarded to Nations FC on Sunday in match week six of the Ghana Premier League.

They didn’t agree that it was a penalty and the game had to be stopped for a number of minutes before Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Ogum intervened for the spot kick to be converted and end the game 2-2.

The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association, after a thorough review of evidence, found the club guilty of breaching Article 16(c) and Article 16(2)(f) of the GFA Disciplinary Code 2019.

Despite pleading not guilty, Asante Kotoko SC was unable to escape the ramifications of the charges.

The Committee's decision communicated directly to the club, mandates the entire fine to be channeled toward repairing the damages inflicted on the stadium, encompassing the shattered seats and other property destruction.
