Asante Kotoko have not signed former Black Stars midfielder Sulley Muntari ahead of the upcoming season, according to Ghanasoccernet.com.

He will also stated that Kotoko will announce the deal with the former AC Milan, Inter Milan and Portsmouth ace in the coming days.

However, the Ghana Premier League champions have debunked the reports insisting they have not signed Muntari.

"The story making rounds is false. We have not signed Sulley. I don’t honestly know where Sheikh got that info from," a top official of Asante Kotoko told Ghanasoccernet.com.

The 37-year-old joined Hearts of Oak on a short-term deal before the start of the second round of the 2021/22 season.

Hearts will be representing the country in the CAF Confederations Cup next season having won the FA Cup against Bechem United.

Muntari was part of the squad that defeated Asante Kotoko to win the President's Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The 2010 Champions League winner was also in action as the Phobians recorded a 2-1 win against the Hunters.

Sulley Muntari played in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 World Cup with the Black Stars in Germany, South Africa and Brazil respectively.
