Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have lost their appeal against Black Stars coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor over his wrongful dismissal in July last year.

The 45-year-old was shown the exit the door after just nine months into his three contract with the Porcupine Warriors.

The former Hearts of Oak gaffer dragged the club to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) demanding his two years salary, league trophy cash, and CAF Confederations Cup group stage entitlements.

Before his exit, he was offered a technical directorate role but he rejected it.

Kotoko are expected to pay coach Akonnor a hefty severance package for terminating his contract.

A statement on the GFA website reads: ''The Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has upheld the decision of the Player Status Committee with respect to the contractual dispute between Coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor and Asante Kotoko SC."

"It would be recalled that the Player Status Committee found Asante Kotoko guilty of breaches in the contract with Akonnor and asked the club to pay him compensation.

"The ruling of the Appeals Committee has been communicated to both parties."
