Asante Kotoko players not ready for Ghana Premier League season – Stephen Manu

Published on: 11 September 2023

Former Asante Kotoko striker Stephen Manu has casted doubt about the readiness of the club ahead of the start of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League campaign.

The domestic top-flight will commence this weekend, with Kotoko expected to take on Ghana Premier League returnees Heart of Lions at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

Having endured a torrid season last-term, the Porcupine Warriors are making effort to make impact in the forthcoming campaign.

In an interview with Kessben FM, the former Kotoko attacker expressed the players are not ready for the start of the season.

“Asante Kotoko players lack match fitness and they need another month for preseason” he said.

“The players are not prepared for the upcoming season so if the league can be postponed for the players to prepare very well for the season” he said.

Kotoko wrapped up their preseason with a pulsating goalless draw against Nsoatreman FC at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
