Asante Kotoko set to part ways with 10 youth players

Asante Kotoko Youth Development Coach, George Asare has disclosed that his outfit will sack about 10 players in the set up when football resumes.

The Porcupine Warriors organised a five-day justify-your-inclusion exercise for the youth team in November in which 40 outfield players and 10 goalkeepers were picked for the two age categories.

Speaking to Kotoko Express App in an interview, Asare confirmed that some of the players were not honest with their ages, thus they will part ways with them.

"We were able to get the correct ages and the quality that we wanted from the justifier," he said.

"However, we did some background checks on them with the help of Deputy Accounts Officer, Richard Akoto and found that about seven to 10 of the players we were looking up to did not give us their correct ages."

He added, "We are going to keep the others and then move to the JHS and SHS for more talents. I have started talking to the schools. The players we will get from the JHS will go to the U15 while the SHS players will go to the U19."

Asare is one of the three coaches put in charge of the formation of the all-new U-15 and U-19 teams.
