Asante Kotoko management are set to hold talks with CK Akonnor over the vacant coaching role at the club according to reports.

The Porcupine Warriors are currently without a substantive head coach following the dismissal of Syedou Zerbo over poor performance.

The Burkinabe gaffer was sacked following the club's 2-0 defeat to Medeama SC in the matchday 23 games at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

Abdul Gazale has been named as the interim coach of the club.

However, it is understood that the club have targeted Akonnor to take over the club as the new head coach of the club.

If talks are concluded it will be Akonnor's return to the club.

The former Black Stars was named the head trainer of the club in October 2018 on a three-year deal following his resignation from AshantiGold SC.

He replaced Paa Kwesi Fabin.

During his first stint with the club, Akonnor guided the Porcupine Warriors to play in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

He steered the club to win the Normalisation Committee Special Competition.

CK Akonnor has previously handled Eleven Wise, Dreams FC and Hearts of Oak,
