Ghalca administrative manager Nana Oduro Nyarko has stated that Asante Kotoko's absence from the ongoing Ghalca top 6 is been felt.

Asante Kotoko officially withdrew from the 2022 Ghana League Clubs Association (Ghalca) Top Six tournament last month.

The statement from Kotoko read: “We have this afternoon written officially to GHALCA, informing the welfare body of our decision not to partake in this year’s Ghalca Top Six tournament. Our decision was purely based on sporting reasons,”

Speaking to Akoma 87.9 FM Nana Oduro Nyarko added mentioned that the quality of players in the competition hasn't really been affected.

"If Kotoko had played in the competition, we would have gotten more money than we are getting now but as to whether it would have made the competition more competitive, I cant say for sure. In terms of money, Kotoko's absence has affected our revenue, but quality of play has not been affected in any way. With the exception of Hearts of Oak game which gave us something in the region of 10,000Gh, all the others have not even yielded 1000Gh,"

"Ghalca games have been rightly captured in our books and it is binding on all clubs. We are yet to sit on the Kotoko pull out but its incumbent on all clubs to seek the welfare of their mother body. If a club wants to weaken or collapse that mother Association, it is up to them,"
