Ashanti Gold SC have released five players following their unconvincing performances at the club ahead of next season.

According to Oyerepa FM, Emmanuel Osei Baffour, Benedict Wobenu, Musah Mohammed, Akwasi Nti and Stephen Owusu Banahene have been deemed surplus to requirement by the club.

Wobenu and Mohammed, who joined the Miners after ending their stay with Inter Allies and Ebusua Dwarfs respectively have got their contract terminated due to their poor output.

Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Akwasi Nti and Stephen Owusu Banahene have also been released.

However, it is believed that the management of the club is currently holding talks with some highly-rated players to join them before the transfer window closes.

The Miners are currently making plans for the CAF Confederations cup after they were selected by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following the truncation of the 2019/20 football season.
