Ashantigold CEO Emmanuel Frimpong reveals why Frank Boateng refused contract extension

Chief Executive Officer of Ashanti Gold SC Emmanuel Frimpong has lifted the lid on why goalkeeper Frank Boateng refused to extend his contract.

Boateng has been a key cog of the Miners since joining them three seasons go.

The first choice for Ghana Premier League giants Ashgold has a few months left on his current contract and has refused to commit his future to the club despite meeting the top hierarchy of the club.

"Frank Boateng rescinded his decision to extend his contract when he heard of the arrival of a new goalkeeper," Emmanuel Frimpong told Sikka Sports.

"If a player wants to leave, you can't put impediments on their way."

Boateng has been linked with a move South African side Black Leopards FC in the on-going transfer window.

Ashanti Gold SC are currently making plans for the 2020/21 Caf Confederation Cup after they were selected by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following the truncation of the 2019/20 football season.
