Ashanti Gold SC have been booted out of this season’s CAF Confederations Cup competition after losing 2-1 to Salitas FC on aggregate in the preliminary stage.

Selected by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to represent Ghana in this season’s CAF inter-club competition, the Miners hoped to enjoy a successful campaign.

Last weekend when the team hosted the Burkinabe opponent at the Len Clay Sports Stadium for the first of the two-legged tie, they wasted a number of chances as the game ended goalless.

Today, Ashanti Gold SC played as a guest to Salitas FC at the Stade Du 4 Août keen on getting a win to ensure they progress to the next phase of the CAF Confederations Cup.

Unfortunately for the side, they have been beaten 2-1 by the opponent courtesy of a brace from Olivier Boissy. Although David Abagna netted a consolation for the Ghanaian outfit, it will not be enough as the Obuasi-based club bows out of the competition.
