AshantiGold assistant coach, Yussif Sheriff Mambo has attributed his teams 3-0 win over Akonangui FC in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round on Saturday to good tactical play from his side.

The Miners were held in a stalemate with the Equatorguinean  in the first leg but came back better in the second leg to grab a comfortable win at home.

An hat trick from Shafiu Mumuni in the first half was all Ashgold needed to progress at the Len Clay Stadium.

Speaking after the game, coach Yussif Sheriff Mambo said, ”It was a very tough match. We realized they had very good midfielders from the first leg so we packed our midfield as well and we were fortunate to get a draw. However, we switched to 4-3-3 system at home and a 3-0 result is what came out of it” Yussif told reporters after the match.

AshantiGold will face 2019 CAF Confederation Cup runners up RS Berkane in the next qualifying round.

The Ghana Premier League side will host the Oranges for the first leg between  the weekend of 13–15 September and the return leg at the Stade Municipal de Berkane between 27–29 September.
