Ashley Young is pushing Manchester United to break their contract policy.

Young is in the final year of his current Old Trafford contract but the club do have the option to extends his terms by another 12 months until June 2019.

ESPN says the 32 year-old is keen to capitalise on his impressive performances this term and bring talks forward.

The ex-Aston Villa star wants a three-year deal and see out the rest of his career in Manchester.

United usually only hand one year deals to their players who are in their 30s.

But Young believes he should be handed a more secure contract in light of his new-found importance in manager Jose Mourinho's ranks.
