Aston Villa want Jordan Ayew to join Ghana's pre-AFCON camp late

Aston Villa have written to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to grant them permission to use Jordan Ayew for a CHampionship clash against Cardiff City on January 2.

The clash falls on the same day that the Black Stars open their residential camping in the UAE ahead of the 2017 AFCON.

FIFA regulations mandate clubs to release players 14 days before the start of sanctioned competitions such as the AFCON.

However, this can be overlooked if the two parties are able to reach an agreement over the use of the player.

Although Jordan has been restricted to substitute appearances in recent weeks, Villa boss Steve Bruce believes the Ghanaian could freshen-up his attack force after the hectic Christmans period.

The Ghana Football Association is still mulling over its response as they don't want to destroy the relationship between the player and the club.

Ayew has been excused from Ghana’s non-residential training in Accra because of club commitments.
