Atletico Madrid Boss Diego Simeone Launches Surprise Dig at Real Madrid Star Cristiano Ronaldo

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has launched a sly dig at Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo, 31,secured his fourth Ballon d'Or trophy in 2016 after completing a quite incredible season, and not many have disputed that he deserved the award.

He not only guided Los Blancos to Champions League glory in May, he also guided Portugal to win Euro 2016 just one month later.

But Simeone has cast doubts over the importance of Ronaldo's awards, speaking to reporters in a typically moody interview following his side's 1-0 win over Real Betis.

"Do you have doubts about results being the most important thing? Look who won the Ballon d'Or," he said, viaGoal.

The Argentine manager continued to look gloomy in his post-match interview, going on to criticise supporters in the Vicente Calderon for being too quiet.

"I played here for five years and have coached here for five more and I know everything [about the club]," he added.

"When the atmosphere begins to quieten it irritates me a little. We tried to not let that feeling, that sense of tranquillity in the crowd, be transmitted on to the field.

"I don't like it when it's quiet."

The narrow victory over Real Betis lifts the Red and Whites to fourth in La Liga, two points behind Sevilla and six points behind league-leaders Real Madrid who have two games in hand at the top of the table.
