According to a report from football journalist, Charles Watts, Atletico Madrid have asked Partey to give them one more year to meet his contractual demands.
The 27-year-old has been linked with an exit from the club for some time now with Arsenal being favorites to land his signature.
The Gunners have seen a bid reject for him but according to reports, the London-side will remain persistent. Atletico Madrid do not want him to go and have asked him to stay one more year so they have enough time to increase his wages.
According to Watts, however, Partey is interested in the move to Arsenal which makes it difficult for Atletico Madrid to tie him down.
It has also been reported that Arsenal have already agreed personal terms with Partey.
The midfielder made over 40 appearances for Atletico Madrid last season.
