Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey makes 34-man shortlist for CAF Player of the Year award

Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has made the Confederation of African Football 34-man shortlist for the African Footballer of the year award.

Partey has been impressive for both club and country and his inclusion doesn't come as a shock to many.

CAF announced a list of 34 players nominated for the prestigious award on Friday morning.

Egypt's Mohamed Salah, holder of the award is in the list with club mate Sadio Mane from Senegal, Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli, Manchester City Riyad Mahrez from Algeria, Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who plays for Arsenal in the English Premier League amongst others are included in the released.

The number will be pruned to three before the awards ceremony which will be staged in Dakar, Senegal in January, 2019.
