Atletico Madrid Target Potential Replacement for Antoine Griezmann Amid Links With Man Utd

Atletico Madrid are eyeing upLyon strikerAlexandre Lacazette as a potential replacement for Manchester United's number onetarget Antoine Griezmann, theTelegraphhave reported.

The La Liga club are determined to keep the French striker for another season, but it appears that a move to the Premier League with United is the most likely outcome.

United are believed to be willing to meet Griezmann's release clause of £85m, which would leave Atletico unable to refuse the move.

Last season's Champions League finalists are now reportedly targeting Lacazette, a close friend of Griezmann's, who has been informed that he can leave Lyon.

Arsenal and West Ham are also said to be likely to renew their interest from last summer, both having failed in bids to sign the French striker.

Lyon's asking price is still a hefty one, however, with £60m the figure they currently value Lacazette at.

Griezmann has, in the past, named his compatriot as a player that he hopes Atletico bring in, and the club have reportedly been admirers of Lacazette for some time.

But the uncertain future of coach Diego Simeone could potentially jeopardise a move, with the Argentine linked with numerous top jobs in Europe.

With Atletico's move to their new 67,000 seater stadium, any transfer for Lacazette would likely have to come after the sale of a star player, such is the cost of paying for the new stadium.

Griezmann became the leading scorer in the Champions League in the club's history with his goal against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday night.
