Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez and his girlfriend Amelia Lorente have both escaped jail time after going to court for a domestic violence case following an alleged fight between the two earlier this month that left the latter requiring hospital treatment.

France U-21 international Hernandez was arrested by police in the early hours of 3rd February.

According to Spanish publication AS, Hernandez has been ordered to complete 31 days of community service. Lorente was handed the same punishment and must also pay €180 in damages for her part in the violence.

Prosecutors had initially requested that Hernandez serve seven months behind bars, as well as asking that Lorente serve four months for domestic violence charges and a further two months for the damage she caused to the Atletico player's car.

Both individuals have been hit with a restraining order that prohibits any contact between them for the next six months.

Hernandez has mainly been a bit-part player at Atletico so far in his young career. He's played 12 times for the first-team this season, operating both at centre-back and left-back, but was givena full90 minutes ingames against Celta Vigo and Sporting Gijon earlier this month.
