Newcastle winger Christian Atsu has indicated that the fans have played a key role in their recent resurgence.
The Maagpies walloped Cardiff City by three goals to nothing in their last EPL game and Atsu admits the fans have been instrumental in their current success.
“Our fantastic fans always support the team, and we want to fight for the fans every time we play at St James’s Park,” Atsu told shieldgazzete
“We get 52,000 every week – they deserve more. We’ve shown we want to make them happy, and the win was for them.”
Newcastle beat Blackburn Rovers 4-2 in the FA Cup third round replay and are also just above the relegation zone in the league log.
