Atsu thanks Coach Rafael Benitez for Newcastle opportunity

Ghana International Christian Atsu has thanked Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez for giving him the opportunity to play for the club on loan from Chelsea.

 

The winger helped Newcastle to win the Championship title and gain promotion back into the English Premier League.

 

Atsu was influential in the club’s success making 15 starts and scoring five goals including a stunning free kick in the team’s 3-0 win over Barnsley.

 

The Chelsea player’s loan deal has ended is he is expected to return to parent club Chelsea. He took the opportunity to thank the team, the staff and fans of Newcastle United revealing how grateful he is to Rafa Benitez.

 

“I owe them thanks. They have given me an opportunity – it’s a big club. Whatever happens in the future, I thank the fans, Rafa and everyone at the club,” he said.

 

The former Porto star however remains uncertain about his future.

 

“I cannot say what will happen with me. I cannot predict football. “I will go back to Chelsea first, then we see.”
