Aubameyang Says He Must Leave Dortmund in Summer 'If I Want to Reach the Next Level'

Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang seems quite intent on leaving his current club at the end of the season, with La Liga side Real Madrid the preferred destination.

The Gabonese attacker is one of the hottest striking properties in Europe, and has been for quite some time, but believes that to take that step to the next level, he must secure a move to a bigger club.

Speaking with French source RMC on Tuesday, Aubameyang was quite frank with his words.

"If I want to go to the next level, I need to leave in summer," he said, sharply."Real Madrid is still a dream, but there has been too much noise.

"It's possible that a club could reach an agreement with Dortmund in June and I'll go.

''When you are ambitious and also want to see something else... it's difficult to talk about. Some players have ambitions, and therefore they leave and want to experience something new, you know."

His latest statement comes as a bit of a surprise, as he was saying that he wanted to remain at Dortmund just two weeks ago.

"For now, I want to stay in Dortmund," he had insisted via RMC. "I think we'll stop talking about Madrid. This is not the time to talk about it, especially since I feel really good in Dortmund.

"The challenge is even more beautiful. Of course we are one of the top clubs, but not really like Barca, Madrid or Bayern.

"It would be nice to win titles with this team, with Dortmund. I hope to do so."

Dortmund are now in fourth place on the Bundesliga table, and trail leaders Bayern Munich by 14 points. At this stage, it seems unlikely that they'll catch up, and that could be why the player is now saying that he's ready to quit the club.
