Augustine Boakye has expressed his excitement after signing with Ligue 1 club AS Saint-Étienne.

The Ghanaian winger shared his enthusiasm about joining the historic French club and his eagerness to engage with its supporters.

"Joining AS Saint-Étienne to discover the French championship is a source of pride. Ligue 1 is a championship that I have always followed and ASSE is an emblematic club. I was able to chat with my friend, Lucas Gourna, who told me a lot of good things about it! I can’t wait to discover this great club from the inside and meet its many supporters!” Boakye told AS Saint-Étienne media.

Boakye, who previously played for Wolfsberger AC in Austria, signed with ASSE on Saturday. His contract extends until 2028, with an option for an additional year.

Boakye, hailing from Bompata in Central Ghana, developed his skills at the renowned West African Football Academy. He made his mark in Ghanaian football before moving to Europe in 2021, joining Austrian Bundesliga side Wolfsberger AC.

Augustine made his professional debut against Rapid Vienna in November and initially played with Wolfsberger’s reserve team. His hard work paid off as he secured a regular spot in the first team the following season. The 2023-2024 season proved to be a breakout year for Boakye, where he shone with 10 goals and 7 assists in 26 appearances, making a significant impact in Austrian football.

Known for his versatility and ability to play in various attacking roles, Boakye excels in creating space and making incisive plays. Now, he is set to bring his dynamic style to Saint-Étienne under the guidance of coach Olivier Dall’Oglio.
