Former Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas believes the demands at Real Madrid have influenced the injury problems suffered by Gareth Bale.

The Wales international is now fully fit, having missed much of the first-half of the season due to fitness woes.

"He was not injured so much (at Tottenham) because we gave him more time to rest, he was the most important player we had and the management managed him like Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid," said AVB.

"At Real Madrid, he does not have that margin, because there is more demands because of what he cost."

He added: "I like how Madrid play, I do not think the pressure on (Zinedine) Zidane is just, a coach who has won two European Cups for me deserves more margin until the end, and I sincerely believe that he is the ideal coach for Real Madrid."
