Newcastle United winger Christian Atsu has described away matches in the English second-tier as challenging advising his teammates to give their all to beat Barnsley at Oakwell tonight.

Newcastle go into the game on the back of an impressive three-game winning run, the most recent of which was a 3-1 victory over Brentford on Saturday.

“Away from home is always very difficult in the Championship. We know that no sooner a game is finished we are preparing for the next one. There are no excuses – we have to turn up there and do our best," Atsu said.

“It was such a great feeling at Rotherham. We’ll see what happens at Barnsley. We will fight and work hard for the fans again. We want to win every game but we know we just have to stay focused.”

The Chelsea loanee has endured a difficult past few seasons as he’s struggled for regular game time but the 24-year-old has been impressive for Newcastle of late and will hope to make a major impact if called upon against Barnsley.
