Axe Looming Over Liverpool Forward With Klopp Itching to Sign Fresh Talent in January

Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge is said to be facing an Anfield exit, with his future hanging in the balance as Jurgen Klopp ponders signing a new striker.

Sturridge has finally overcome his fitness issues, and scored for England in their recent 3-0 win over Scotland.

He also scored a brace in the EFL Cup triumph against Tottenham Hotspur, but the German manager has opted to play Roberto Firmino in a central striking role ahead of the ex-Chelsea man.

According to theSunday People, Klopp wants to bring in a new No 9 to provide competition for places up front. The Reds boss lost Danny Ings to a devastating knee injury, and is set to lose Sadio Mane for at least a month due to international obligations with Senegal for the Africa Cup of Nations, yet there's still little hope for Sturridge to make the centre-forward position his.

Klopp also has Belgian striker Divock Origi at his disposal, but hasn't been using him much this season, as opposed to the last.

He'll always score goals will Sturridge. Sterling making England tick though. Love the way he's responded since the summer. Gritty bugger!

The Reds currently sit top of the Premier League table, and look to be in serious contention for the title this term.

Chelsea are chasing, and are just one point adrift. Neither of these teams are playing in Europe this season, and that gives them the edge over competitors Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham and Manchester United.

Sturridge, though, doesn't look to be part of the revolution at the moment, but he still has a bit of time to prove himself before the next window.
